A sculptor for more than thirty years, Lawrence Kinney completed graduate level studies through the University at Buffalo. His sculptures have appeared throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Permanent outdoor sculptures can be found in Western New York at Art Park, Buffalo State College, and the UHAA-St. Andrew Sculpture Garden. He has also designed and produced a line of artist's coffee tables.

Lawrence Kinney and Mary Ouimette-Kinney formed the University Heights Arts Association in 2013. Together they serve as Co-executive Directors.

Lawrence Kinney maintains his sculpture, "Spalted Device", a permanent installation on the grounds of Art Park, in Lewiston New York. The sculpture won the grand prize at the Edges '08 Sculpture Competition, held at Artpark in 2008.

commissioned sculpture for the 2001 Pan-American Exposition.
This sculpture was later acquired by Buffalo State College,
