A program of the University Heights Arts Association that explores seeds as a way to garden, and the concept of the seed as a way to artistically share slice of life interpretations of personal and community history.
The ARTseeds program offers free gardening seeds to anyone who wants them! We collect donations of seeds from individuals and community spaces as well as harvest seeds from our ARTgardens. Fine art then meets function as more than 25 artists of different genres research, document, photograph, illustrate, and package garden seeds. The UHAA packaged and disseminated 2150 packages of seeds along with illustrated seed guides in 2016.
The ARTseeds program publishes a book every three years titled, "Soil, Seeds and Secrets", which utilitzes garden art, illustration, photography, painting, poetry and prose to convey useful information about harvesting and planting seeds along with artistic interpretations of gardening and other life experiences. A series of video interviews will document “slice of life”stories about community members for a related history project.
New is 2017!
The University Heights Arts Association partnered with PlantsMap.com to database the ARTseeds program.
